Historic Enclothing: 33 New Liverymen Welcomed by the Communicators

The Communicators welcomed 33 new liverymen into the Company on Friday.

Master Communicator Jason Groves: "It is highly unusual for so many liverymen to have been enclothed at a single event in a single company. This was a historic day for both the Worshipful Company of Communicators and the City of London's livery movement. It was such a joyful experience to see so many of our members step up to play they part in the running of the company - given its rising importance to the wider communications profession - as well take part in the civic life of the City. Many thanks to Ironmongers' Hall for their fantastic hospitality in such beautiful surrounds."

When a Freeman becomes a Liveryman, the candidate is ‘clothed’ at a ceremony in which a gown is placed on him or her. Liveryman can vote in the election of the Lord Mayor and the two elected Sheriffs

The ‘enclothing’ ceremony at Ironmongers’ Hall on Friday was followed by a drinks reception.
