Highlighting our members – Rob Double

Updated: Sep 10

Each month, we spotlight a valued member of the Company of Communicators.

This month, we’re delighted to feature Rob Double, Founder of London Broadcast Studios, based in London.

Rob started his career as a broadcast journalist, presenting drivetime radio before university and later completing his MA in Broadcast Journalism at City University. He went on to work at BBC Radio 4 and then moved into production and content communications. After a role as Head of News for the British Army, he set up his own broadcast studios.

How long have you been in Communications?

"Since 2016."

How did you come into Communications?

"I began in broadcast journalism—first on a local drivetime radio show, then after my MA, at BBC Radio 4. From there, I moved into production, communications, and later served as Head of News for the British Army before founding London Broadcast Studios."

What’s been a highlight of working in Communications?

"It’s a tie between covering the European Union Council meetings during the Brexit negotiations and being part of the British Army communications team for the death of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh."

Quick fire questions!

Crisis or Launch campaign and why? "Crisis—it’s where your full skillset is tested. You’re under pressure, working with rapidly changing information, managing stakeholders in real time, and ensuring messaging is clear and consistent. It’s intense but incredibly rewarding."

What’s your favourite podcast and why? "As a political news junkie, Political Currency is by far the superior political podcast. Sorry Alastair and Rory!"

Should you put funnies in speeches? "Absolutely—if you can pull them off. Self-awareness is crucial; not everyone can deliver jokes naturally. That’s where having a strong, honest team around you makes the difference."
