Why did you join the Company of Communicators?
Jane Mitchell: I was invited to apply by a highly respected colleague, Neil Griffiths, whose energy, passion and commitment is very infectious and who was I to resist? Having several friends that are Liverymen in a variety of other companies, I feel, particularly in the 21st century, that The Company of Communicators has a rightful place among them, and I believe that we can be a very strong force for good.
What benefits have you derived from joining?
Jane Mitchell: I have been a part of the company for less than a year, so it’s early days, particularly while I’m caught up with the IABC World Conference. So far it has been a gentle and remote introduction to an incredible group of people. I sense that we have much to do and our Gift of Communication session gave us just a glimpse of how we can support and guide our audiences in ways they had not thought possible.
What are the main challenges you are experiencing in communications today?
Jane Mitchel: Keeping up with the constant stimulation; social media channels, articles, blogs, podcasts, webinars, YouTube - it is absolutely endless. Once you choose to engage how do you find the stop tap? Determining the most relevant and informative methods for you is a skill - I’ve not mastered it yet.
