To celebrate the Company of Communicators 20th anniversary we are profiling 20 Company members in the lead up to our big day.


Today we profile Sarah Jurado, chair of our Diversity, Equality & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee.

Why did you join the Company of Communicators?


Sarah Jurado: I’d never heard of a Livery Company until three years ago. After I started working for the Goldsmiths’ Company in 2018, I was introduced to the Communicators by past Master Gavin Ellwood. Everyone was warm, friendly and approachable and I was attracted by the opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of the organisation, give back to our community and support the organisation’s ambition to be one of the leading Livery Company’s for DE&I.


What benefits have you derived from joining?


Sarah Jurado: Networking; fellowship and giving back are the three things I have benefited from during my time with the Communicators. I’ve really valued the opportunity to give my time, knowledge and expertise to help the Company achieve its goal of full livery status and meet its strategic objectives – retain members; recruit new members and raise £300,000 (a requirement to achieve full livery status).


What are the main challenges you are experiencing in communications today?


Sarah Jurado: Digital skills - advancing digital communication skills, capabilities and content to keep apace with the advancements and learnings made during the pandemic, but within current budgets.


Inclusion and access - being more inclusive and accessible from our marketing materials to who we profile, language, content and speakers and being more creative about who we collaborate with.


Data tools and insights - having access to the right tools and software to provide data insights that shape and inform decisions, investments and communications.
