Why did you join the Company of Communicators?
I was approached by Past Master Sarah Wait, who spoke about her vision for the Company to be more diverse, so I wanted to be part of that vision and I have been delighted to see the changes that have been made, and the real commitment to be more inclusive.
What benefits have you derived from joining?
I have learnt a lot from colleagues in different sectors, I have enjoyed widening my network and I really do enjoy the events. I’ve met such interesting and interested people and forged some great friendships.
What are the main challenges you are experiencing in communications today?
Organisations often talk about a vision, their values and behaviours; now more than ever before employees, customers, investors – all stakeholders are looking at those and expecting to see evidence of how that is lived throughout the organisation. So there is a very real challenge and indeed, opportunity, for communicators to ensure their clients and organisations are living their vision and their values – and if they are not one of two things has to change. This is no time for words and not deeds
